What is this product?
This module is specifically designed for BMW vehicles equipped with the Driving Assistant (option code 5AT) but without the Traffic Jam Assistant (option code 5AR). In many regions, especially in the US, cars are shipped without this feature, even though they are technically capable of supporting it. This is a miniature module that needs to be installed behind the steering wheel button panel. The button panel is held in place by a single screw from the back, making it easy to remove.

A simple way to check compatibility: If your instrument cluster shows speed limit information, it means there’s a camera installed in your windshield – a key requirement for this function.
The Traffic Jam Assistant helps you stay in your lane, car can steer itself and automatically stops and starts, and keeps a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
The system uses the original windshield camera, so certain conditions are required for it to work properly:
✅ visible lane markings
✅ a vehicle driving in front of you
❌ cannot be used in heavy rain
❌ cannot be used if the sun is setting directly ahead
⚠️ Please note: with this system activated, the car can steer itself and keep itself in the lane without requiring you to keep your hands on the steering wheel. However, you remain fully responsible for driving at all times. The driver must continuously monitor the surroundings and be ready to take control immediately if needed.
